Permanent, Full-time

The Kress Conservation Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for a
sculpture conservator at the beginning of their career to develop
and broaden their knowledge by joining one of the leading
conservation teams in the museum world.

This one year fellowship will cover a wide range of conservation
activities from the acquisition of new sculptures into Tate's
Collection through long term preventive conservation techniques,
including environmental monitoring and packing, through to
exhibition and display processes. The focus will be placed on
activities related to exhibition and display programmes at Tate
Modern and on the care, documentation and treatment of recent
acquisitions.

The fellow will explore issues specifically related to the
conservation and care of modern and contemporary sculpture through
technical examination, documentation and minor treatment of artworks
in the Tate's care. There will also be an opportunity to undertake
one complex treatment with a research component.

There is an allocation of up to UKP600 for research related travel
and attendance at relevant conferences and courses.

To be eligible for this 1 year fellowship programme you will hold a
recognised qualification in sculpture conservation and have an
ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in assessing the
condition of sculptures. You will also be able to demonstrate an
understanding of ethics and reasoning behind treatment choices and
work to a high standard. You will have excellent interpersonal,
communication and team skills, illustrating your ability to manage
your time and prioritise workload to meet deadlines. You will have
good word processing and IT skills.

This 1 year Fellowship has been supported by a grant from the
