"Book Repair Techniques for Special Collections" The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies July 30-August 2, 2012 The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies is hosting the workshop "Book Repair Techniques for Special Collections" on July 30-August 2, 2012. The tuition is $950 and includes lodging and most meals. $300 FAIC scholarships for AIC members are still available. The workshop is being taught Olivia Primanis, Senior Conservator at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, Austin, TX. During this workshop participants will practice conservation techniques for mending structures of original and early bindings. Methods for identifying structures, assessing deterioration and choosing repair techniques will be discussed. Problems that can arise from the repair of original structures and materials will be examined.
