Festschrift for Renate Woudhuysen

In recognition of the enormous contribution Renate Woudhuysen has
made in the field of conservation of easel paintings, a Festschrift
has been compiled, dedicated to her primary area of interest--the
reconstruction of paintings by means of original techniques and
materials.

This is a tribute to Renate at the time of her retirement from the
Hamilton Kerr Institute (Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK), where
she first began work in 1978. Her time here has been marked by an
unfailing commitment to the profession and, in particular, to the
students and interns whom she has taught.

The title of the Festschrift is In Artists' Footsteps. Studies in
the reconstruction of pigments and paintings. It comprises
contributions from experts in the field of technical conservation
and reflect a broad spectrum of current research and investigation,
providing a valuable addition to the literature on painting
materials and techniques.
