The workshop focuses on advanced technologies applied to Cultural Heritage (CH) for the preservation and dissemination of results, through education and training in information and communication technologies. It will focus on technologies for digital data acquisition (photogrammetry, laser scanning and Polynomial Texture Mapping), the use of open-source software for data post-processing and metadata standards and knowledge management. This year the School is organised by CNR ITABC and CNR ISTI and includes computer graphics. It is organised in cooperation with CINECA and University of Padova. It origins from CNR ITABC and University of Padova "Virtual Archaeology" national school (2009-2011). Monday, June 25, 2012 to Friday, July 6, 2012 German Virtual Heritage The school introduces participants to the new field on web deployment of VR and AR Applications ("VR/AR Apps") as well as related topics on applied CG technology in the area of virtual and augmented digital heritage, 3D reconstruction, technological tools dedicated to processing and integration into web front ends, ported to mobile smartphones and registered with the physical world. The students will learn basic concepts for 3D documentation, capturing, tracking and reconstruction technologies required for online/offline and mobile virtual museums. September 3-7, 2012 Virtual Museum Academy 2012 The Museum of the Imperial Fora in Trajan's Markets, Rome, in cooperation with the Allard Pierson Museum of Amsterdam, organizes, under V-Must.Net project, the 1st edition of the Virtual Museum Academy. The 2nd and the 3rd editions of the VMA will be hosted in the others Museums involved in the Project. The Virtual Museum Academy is directed, through specific courses, to Museum Staff and to Museum/Institutions Managers. It develops the integration of theoretical, methodological and analytical aspects of archaeological research. Monday, September 10, 2012 United Kingdom Virtual Heritage School "Virtual Restoration and Reconstruction in a London Charter Framework The UK Virtual Heritage School explores the theory and best practice of heritage visualisation. The school is offered by the Department of Digital Humanities <URL:http://www.kcl.ac.uk/artshums/depts/ddh/index.aspx> at King's College London, UK and is led by King's Visualisation Labs (KVL) <URL:http://www.kvl.cch.kcl.ac.uk> which specialises in the creation of digital visualisations for historical research, archaeology and cultural heritage.
