Conservation Scientist Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) The Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) is searching for a freelance conservation scientist. Please submit your offer if: You have a master or PhD in conservation science, organic analytical chemistry and particularly (pyrolysis) GC-MS, LCMS and FTIR; You are experienced in analytical research applied to cultural heritage objects; You are able to write your results in either English or Dutch (reports and/or presentations); You consider yourself a good team player; You have a 'VAR-verklaring' (Dutch applicants) or you are a registered freelancer (for foreign candidates). The commissioned research includes pyrolysis GC-MS, FTIR and ATR-FTIR analysis on several projects including those on paintings of the Tudor Dynasty and original finish of wood furniture, 20th century oil paints, as well as a range of smaller questions regarding conservation and technical art history. The commission includes performing analyses, interpretation of analytical results and reporting (written reports, oral presentations). The appointment involves 400 hours of research to be carried out between June 15 and December 31, 2012. The period and work days will be assessed in agreement with the contractor.
