Preventive Conservation Adviser - Skills and Projects The National Trust London SW1 UKP41,000 - UKP44,000 per annum plus benefits Ref: IRC720 A preventive conservation specialist, you'll be our authority on training and skills development for our 550 house staff, and on safeguarding interiors and collections during building projects and emergency salvage. We want you to share your expertise with colleagues across the organisation, with the Trust's supporters and with your peers in museums and galleries. As one of our national specialists, you'll have a good understanding of our aims and objectives and a desire to enthuse our people about conservation. You'll also have the knowledge to identify the best methods for developing conservation skills, whether that's through delivering training programmes, supporting apprenticeships and internships, planning projects or working with external partners. Adding an important new dimension to our conservation work, you'll encourage creative ways of bringing collections and historic interiors to life, helping everyone enjoy the beauty and interest which works of art, social history collections and decorative interiors provide. This role is based with the national specialist team in London SW1 but, to facilitate travel and access to our properties, we can be flexible about office location or home-working. We are aware of the scope of this role and depth of expertise required, so we're open to applications for part-time working/job share between two appropriately qualified and experienced conservators. You will be expected to travel for three days per week on average and overnight stays may also be required. We will pay you a mileage allowance or offer a lease car, subject to total annual mileage. You have particular experience of training and skills development, and protection of historic interiors and collections during building works and emergency salvage. Confident and charismatic, you enjoy sharing your knowledge and insight with a variety of audiences, both internally through training programmes and workshops, and externally through lectures and publications.
