Over six months, you will have the opportunity--under appropriate supervision--to carry out the examination, documentation and treatment of a painting or paintings from the collection required for exhibition or loan. Our conservation team consists of a Senior Conservator (paintings) (currently a job-share), a Lead Conservator (frames) and 2 part-time Conservators (1 paintings and 1 frames). You will be supervised by the Conservator (paintings) but will also work closely with both Senior Conservators. The placement requires good problem-solving skills and strong practical ability to carry out conservation and restoration treatments of paintings. You should have good learning skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own, and be motivated to developing a career in painting conservation. Applicants should have recently obtained a recognised postgraduate qualification in paintings conservation. Preference will be given to graduates from UK training courses. Guildhall Art Gallery and the funders of this Internship are obliged to confirm that every applicant has a right to work in the United Kingdom.
