2012 Gaehde Lecture
Judith Walsh speaking on Winslow Homer
Boston

On Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 6 pm, the second Christa Gaehde
Memorial lecture will take place in the Alfond Auditorium at the
Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The speaker, Judith Walsh, will present
her latest research on Winslow Homer and his use of the color
theories of Michel-Eugene Chevreul. Walsh is Professor of Paper
Conservation at the Art Conservation Department of Buffalo State
College. She is an expert on the watercolor techniques of Homer and
has written and lectured widely on this subject as well as the
watercolor techniques of Georgia O'Keeffe and a range of other
American modernist artists.

This lecture is sponsored by the Christa Gaehde Fund in memory of
Christa Gaehde and in support of the Christa Gaehde Fund, part of
the Foundation of the American Institute of Conservation. Christa
Gaehde, one of the preeminent paper conservators in the United
States, was known for her dedication to teaching and continual
learning, and for her excellence as an art connoisseur as well as
conservator. The Fund, established in her memory ten years ago,
supports conservators pursuing these goals.

Thanks to the generosity of our speaker, this lecture is brought to
you free of charge in hopes that you will make a donation to the
Christ Gaehde Fund. Please open the invitation attached to this
email to read more about the Lecture, the Fund, and Christa Gaehde.

If you plan to attend the lecture, please RSVP before June 7, 2012
to Kay Satomi. Email is preferred: ksatomi<-at->mfa<.>org or phone
617-369-4104

Note: If you are not a member of the MFA, you *must* RSVP so that a
free admission ticket can be arranged for you. You may enter at
either the Huntington or Fenway entrances, where a volunteer will
greet you and give you a ticket and directions to the auditorium. If
you are a member of the MFA, simply enter and proceed to the Alfond
Auditorium at your leisure.

We look forward to seeing you at the lecture. If you are unable to
attend, please consider supporting the Christa Gaehde Fund.
