Master of Research in Heritage Science
UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage
University College London

UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage is offering a scholarship,
funded by Historic Royal Palaces, which is open to students accepted
onto the MRes in Heritage Science. The scholarship covers the
course fees for a UK/EU student and a stipend of UKP10,000 a year
for living expenses. Over the two-year period of the course, the
successful applicant will spend eight months at UCL, studying
towards the MRes Heritage Science degree and 16 months at Hampton
Court Palace carrying out scientific research to support the HRP
conservation research project on the environmental protection of the
Tudor tapestries in the Great Hall and Great Watching Chamber at
Hampton Court Palace.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after
the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House,
Kensington Palace and Kew Palace. The Conservation and Collection
Care department, through the conservation of the artefacts and
palaces in our care, help tell the stories of the five sites to more
than three million visitors every year.

The MRes Heritage Science at UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage is
an interdisciplinary programme that takes an innovative approach to
the teaching of 'hard' science subjects by taking cultural heritage
as its context. For more information please see

Plans to make a career in the UK heritage sector

Has strong intellectual abilities proven with the achievement of
    a good first degree

Has a passion for history and for communicating conservation and
    heritage science to the public

To apply for the scholarship, candidates must have received a letter
with an unconditional offer to enroll part-time on the MRes Heritage
Science course by 15 August 2012, and to have submitted the UCL HRP
Studentship Application Form by the same date. Closing date for
applications for the HRP Heritage Science Scholarship is 15 August
2012.

For more details and to apply please see

Applications are welcome from candidates regardless of their

currently under-represented in the HRP workforce. If you are
shortlisted you will be invited to an interview at Hampton Court
Palace.
