Project Conservator Caring for Kenwood English Heritage Closing date: 15 May 2012 The Caring for Kenwood building project is taking place in two phases from Autumn 2011 until Autumn 2013. Phase 1 covered the Service wing. Phase 2 covers the main house and subsequent representation of the interiors. Working as part of the collections conservation team, you will work to plan, manage and undertake the care and conservation of the fine and decorative art collections located at Kenwood House whilst they are in storage during the Caring for Kenwood Project. Working as a member of the project team, you will monitor the collections in store, manage and install in-situ protection, supervise contractors on site, reinstall objects from the stores and work to improve storage conditions, as well as liaising with the wider project team and other contractors on collections conservation matters. You will manage external conservation projects on gilded furniture and other objects and carry out surface cleaning and stabilisation treatments of gilded frames and other objects whilst in store. Following building works you will work with the project team to clean the rooms, in-stall environmental and pest monitoring, train new staff and implement a new housekeeping schedule. You will organise the return and re-display of objects and condition check them prior to re-opening of the house in October 2013. You will have a recognised qualification in conservation. The ability to work both independently and as part of a busy team is essential.
