We are a very busy small private company based in Christchurch
specialising in the conservation, restoration and replication of
historic and modern frames and surfaces. The owner of the Company,
Lin Klenner, is a Berlin educated gilder. She has extensive
experience and has worked on projects around Europe and New Zealand.
This is an opportunity for you to work with a dedicated and
professional gilder with an international reputation.

We offer a highly personalised service to our customers from a
purpose built studio in Christchurch. We work in oil and water
gilding in addition to decorative techniques to replicate marble,
historic stains, ebony, wood, and polychromatic surfaces.

Because of the earthquakes events in Christchurch there is a high
demand for the services we offer and we are looking for a contract
based full or part time person to fill this position.

Preference is for someone who is experienced in the specialised
services we offer however we would be interested in someone who has
experience in a similar field. This position would be an opportunity
to further enhance your knowledge and career. Extensive training
would be given where required.

Due to the nature of our work it is important that the candidate is
trustworthy, responsible and has no criminal record. If you cannot
meet this then we will not consider your application.

The other attributes that a person for this position ideally needs
is:

    A confident, positive and professional personality

    Experience working privately or in an institution such as a
    museum or art gallery with a specialisation in gilding and
    historic surfaces

    Confident is using hand tools to a high degree of skill

    Exhibit patience and have an eye for detail

    Work efficiently and tidily without constant supervision

    Be physically fit and able to carry heavy frames / objects

    Ability to learn new skills quickly and to implement them to the
    high standard that we expect

    Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English

    A full drivers licence

    Computer literate on both a Mac and PC with experience preferred
    in Word, Excel and Photoshop

    Ability to work in differing environments which may range from
    building sites to our studio through to museums

    Have either a New Zealand work permit or holiday visa or be a
    New Zealand or Australian citizen

    Knowledge and understanding of the German language would be an
    advantage in this position.

Remuneration for this position is subject to the skills, experience
and and knowledge of the application and would be reviewed after a
three month period.
