Andrew W. Mellon Advanced Training Fellowship in Objects
    Conservation
The Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum is offering an exciting opportunity to an
emerging professional conservator to work in a very active museum
laboratory that focuses on preventive collections care, treatment,
research and public outreach. This is an Andrew W. Mellon advanced
training fellowship in objects conservation to begin October 2012.
The fellowship is for one-year, but may be renewed for a second
year.

The Walters is a dynamic museum with collections from around the
world, spanning ancient times to the early 20th century. The
Conservation and Technical Research Division staff members work
collaboratively across all divisions of the museum and are committed
to professional activities both nationally and internationally. The
Fellow will be encouraged to also play an active role in a broad
range of professional activities.

Generally the Fellow will work 50% of his/her time on the museum's
programmatic priorities, including activities relating to
exhibitions, installations, loans and preventive care of the
permanent collections, as well as public outreach through the
museum's popular public "Conservation Window." The remaining time
the Fellow will focus on a research project, culminating in a
publishable paper.

The selected candidate will receive a stipend of $40,500 including
funds for travel/research, plus a generous benefits package.
Candidates should be graduates of a recognized conservation training
program or have equivalent experience. Applications, including a
letter of interest, current resume, and two letters of
recommendation, should be sent to jobs [at] thewalters__org.
Deadline for applications is May 15, 2012.

An EOE/A drug, alcohol and drug-free environment.
