Leading conservation studio in Singapore seeks a painting
conservator responsible for performing in and managing a
professional operation which caters to the vibrant Asian art market.
The conservator relates to clients, assesses damages, writes
quotations, condition reports and treatment proposals, and conducts
professional high-standard conservation with time and cost
consciousness. Integrity, presence, cultural sensitivity and
experience working for the private market is needed to lead the
studio, which relocated from Germany and has successfully served the
Asian region for the past 15 years.

The position is ideal for someone looking to move to Asia with its
fascinating regional diversity of artworks, and to commit to a
long-term exciting change for his or her professional and personal
development as well as the further expansion of the Singapore
studio. This is a salaried job for 2 years, with options for
continuation and equity in the company after the 2 years.

Qualifications

The Candidate must be:

Well-trained in painting conservation, and experience in
conservation of artworks on paper would also be desirable. At
least 3 years experience in the private market is required.
Emphasis is on contemporary art, as historic artifacts reaching
the studio are generally not older than 100 years. Laboratory
research is rarely conducted. Solution-oriented, hands-on
    intelligence is necessary.

Mature and experienced with pleasant social and communication
skills, and have the ability to speak and write clearly and
professionally in English. The job includes giving advice to
art collectors, galleries, auction houses, insurers and
institutions, and raising awareness how to prevent damages and
stabilize cultural material under tropical climate conditions.

Willing to move on short notice to Singapore. It would be best
if the candidate is already in the region and is motivated to
visit the studio, only with serious intention for immediate
    change.
