Commonly found on Italian books from the 16th and 17th centuries, this binding style is an elegant example of Renaissance craftsmanship. In class, Don will guide students in the making of a model that blends characteristic historical features with certain modern adaptations designed to eliminate the warping that frequently occurs with newly bound stiff-board vellum bindings. This class is appropriate for experienced binders. Workshop Fee: $325 (GBW members)/$375 (non-members) Materials Fee: $30 Instructor Bio: With over 45 years of professional bookbinding and conservation experience, Don Etherington is a nationally and internationally recognized craftsman, known for his innovative design and implementation of state-of-the-art conservation procedures, including phased preservation programs for libraries and institutions.
