Part Time - 23 hours per week

VPS 3.1 $53,502 gross per annum + 9% superannuation

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is Australia's oldest and
pre-eminent public art gallery and possesses what is generally
acknowledged as the most outstanding collection of fine art in the
region and one that ranks with major collections throughout the
world.

The works of art on paper and photographic works are of exceptional
quality and span from the mid-15th century to present.  The
collections include artworks from a wide range of origins and
comprise of a diverse array of materials and techniques.  The
collection is displayed at two venues NGV Australia and NGV
International.  The Gallery also maintains an off-site store.

The NGV is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate
for the position of Conservator, Paper and Photography.  This
position is an integral part of the NGV's Paper and Photography
conservation team. The Conservator, Paper and Photography will be
working on artwork from the Prints and Drawings, Photography, Asian,
Contemporary and ATSI (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander)
collections.

Applications must have a tertiary qualification from a recognised
art conservation training programme or equivalent, including
experience working in the examination and treatment of high value
photographic works and works of art on paper and paper-related
material.  Well developed practical skills are essential and the
ability to carry out complex treatments with limited supervision.  A
broad knowledge of materials and methods used in the construction of
works of art is required.  In addition, well-developed
interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are
essential.
