The Archives and Records Association Preservation and Conservation Group are happy to announce the following training event: Training day on Parchment for Conservators and other interested professionals Conservation Studio Norfolk Record Office The Archive Centre Norwich 23 May 2012 An exciting opportunity to participate in this training day on the many and varied facets of the conservation and preservation of parchment and to see and listen to some of the top practitioners in their field. Delegates will be able to see demonstrations and learn more about such subjects as the conservation of a pedigree, Gelatine poultices and adhesive uses for parchment, recent approaches to parchment manuscript conservation, mounting parchment for storage and display, case studies on a Limp Vellum stationery Binding and Experiments in mounting large scale items and understanding collagen/gelatine interactions in parchment artefacts. Delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in 2 of the practical demonstrations: Gelatine poultices and adhesive uses for parchment and Mounting parchment for storage display. For these sessions please bring an apron/protective clothing/small tools. More details to follow. This training day is a great opportunity for Conservators to meet, learn, network and swap ideas.
