"Putting the Pieces Together: the Codicology and Conservation of the Archimedes Palimpsest" Lecture by Abigail Quandt Catholic University, Washington D.C. February 27, 2012 6 pm Abigail Quandt, Senior Conservator of Manuscripts and Rare Books at the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, will present "Putting the Pieces Together: the Codicology and Conservation of the Archimedes Palimpsest." Her talk will focus on the 12-year conservation effort which stabilized this manuscript and prepared it for the multispectral imaging which would reveal its hidden 10th-century text, the earliest surviving copy of Archimedes' treatises. The lecture is sponsored by Rare Books and Special Collections, Mullen Library, and the Department of Chemistry. It will be held in the Pryzbyla University Center, Room A, with a reception to follow.
