Lecture by Abigail Quandt

February 27, 2012
6 pm

Abigail Quandt, Senior Conservator of Manuscripts and Rare Books at
the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, will present "Putting the Pieces
Together: the Codicology and Conservation of the Archimedes
Palimpsest." Her talk will focus on the 12-year conservation effort
which stabilized this manuscript and prepared it for the
multispectral imaging which would reveal its hidden 10th-century
text, the earliest surviving copy of Archimedes' treatises.

The lecture is sponsored by Rare Books and Special Collections,
Mullen Library, and the Department of Chemistry. It will be held in
the Pryzbyla University Center, Room A, with a reception to follow.
All are welcome to attend. For further information contact Rare
Books at 202 319 5091 or rouse<-at->cua<.>edu.
