Assistant Furniture / Objects Conservator Period Furniture Conservation LLC Position available July 1, 2012 Period Furniture Conservation LLC <URL:http://www.periodfurnitureconservation.com> invites applicants for the position of Assistant Furniture / Objects Conservator. The applicant will assist in the conservation treatment of fine furniture and wooden artifacts. In addition, objects made of metal, glass, stone, porcelain, ceramic, and non traditional materials, from all periods may also be treated. We emphasize technical precision, thorough documentation and ethical, reversible treatments. Summary: This position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate possesses a graduate degree in furniture / objects conservation. Woodworking experience with strong hand skills, ability to identify woods microscopically, great in-painting skills, and a solid understanding of digital photography are assets for this position. The candidate should also have effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work to deadlines. Additional Requirements: Because of the nature of our work, certain other things may be required from time to time. These include: Physical strength (ability to lift up to 60 pounds on occasion) Flexibility to work onsite at client locations is a necessity Salary and Benefit Information: This is a full-time staff position. A salary will be paid commensurate with experience.
