Assistant Painting Conservator
Saint Louis Art Museum

The Saint Louis Art Museum seeks to fill the position of assistant
painting conservator. This is a full time, two year position with
benefits and travel. The successful candidate will be under the
direction of the painting conservator. The conservation department
also employs conservators in the specialties of objects, paper, and
textiles, plus a mount maker and frame technician.

This position monitors, assesses, and treats paintings from the
comprehensive (Early European to contemporary) collections of the
Saint Louis Art Museum.  Candidates should demonstrate the ability
to produce excellent condition and treatment reports and
photo-documentation. Knowledge of various materials over a wide
range of old master to contemporary paintings is necessary in order
to achieve excellent treatment results while adhering to the AIC
code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice.

The successful candidate should have effective oral and written
communication skills, ability to work to deadlines, and work both
independently and collaboratively with conservators and curators. A
degree from a recognized conservation program is required, and
several years' experience in a museum is highly preferred.
