Masterclass Risk Management in Collections Care Cambridge, United Kingdom Friday 30 March 2012 Price: UKP60 This is the first in the series: Masterclasses in Collections Care presented by the Fitzwilliam Museum and University of Cambridge Museums Speakers: Agnes Brokerhof Cultural Heritage Agency of The Netherlands Dr Anna Bulow The National Archives Andor Vince The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge University This one day seminar will explore the risk-based approach to collections care and application of risk management methodology in practice. Agnes Brokerhof will discuss the application of risk management in the cultural heritage field and how heritage organisations can use it to prioritise their limited resources and reduce risks that have the greatest impact on collections preservation. Andor Vince will present a case study in managing risks to collections applying the methodology developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) and the Cultural Heritage Agency for the Netherlands (RCE). Dr Anna Bulow will present a model used to measure cost-effectiveness in health care and its potential to inform decisions in collection management, which was developed jointly by RCE and the National Archives. In the afternoon participants will take part in a risk assessment exercise and will have an opportunity to discuss issues in collections care such as strategic planning, prioritisation and cost-effective resource allocation.
