National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) Frames Conservation Internship Tate Allowance UKP1295 per month This Internship funded by The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) is a remarkable opportunity for a frames conservator to develop and broaden their knowledge by joining one of the leading conservation teams in the museum world. The Internship runs for 3 months in Summer/Autumn 2012. The successful person will gain wide experience through undertaking general activities of conservation practice within a busy Gallery programme. The Intern will explore issues related to the conservation and care of art through technical examination, documentation and minor treatment of artworks in the Tate's care and maintaining safe storage and display and packing specifications. The Intern will gain experience in Tate procedures and systems, and learn about the protection of artworks on display with involvement in related preventive conservation activities and event planning. You will hold a recognised qualification in conservation within Wood/Organics and demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of ethics and reasoning behind treatment choices and conserving works to a high standard. You will have excellent communications skills both verbal and written and work well within a team environment.
