UCL's outstanding collections cover a wide variety of disciplines -
reflecting the range of the university's academic work - and are
used on a daily basis in teaching, research and public engagement.
Housing an estimated 80,000 objects, the Petrie Museum of Egyptian
Archaeology is one of the greatest collections of Egyptian and
Sudanese archaeology in the world.

The UCL Art Museum operates as a study centre and has a programme of
temporary exhibitions. It houses the Slade collection, including
contemporary media works, as well as prints and drawings by artists
such as Durer, Rembrandt, Turner and Constable.

Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking two exceptionally
committed people to work as Museum Assistants in two of UCL's public
museums, assisting with collections care, helping to support use and
to provide access to the collections for students, researchers and
the wider public. The work includes getting material out for
teaching, research and loans, helping researchers in the museum,
improving collections storage and care, keeping information up to
date, and helping with displays and exhibitions.

Key requirements:: You will need a degree in a subject relevant to
one of our museums or relevant subject experience, plus experience
of working directly with museum collections and with the public.
Work often requires close attention to detail, manual dexterity and
the capability to learn routine procedures such as packing and
storage techniques. Excellent communication skills, energy and
enthusiasm, and a clear commitment to customer service are
essential, as are great organisational skills. Applicants should be
willing to work additional hours in the week if needed, plus
occasional evenings and weekends for special events. (TOIL will be
given for overtime worked)

Further details: Please state on your application which of the two
museums you wish to work in and complete your supporting statement
as appropriate, making sure you demonstrate a clear commitment to
working in that museum. The Museum Assistant roles will vary across
different collections so please take time to familiarise yourself
with the museums and consider your application.

Please note, we only accept UCL application forms anything else you
submit will not be viewed. Further details and an application form
