Advanced Internships
Paper conservation, Objects conservation

    The Buffalo Bill Historical Center's Conservation Training
    Center is offering two paid advanced internships for summer
    study in the following areas: paper conservation, and objects
    conservation with a concentration on the outdoor sculpture
    collection.

    Description:  The Buffalo Bill Historical Center provides
    funding for payment of $8.50 per hour for these conservation
    intern positions.

    Conservation Projects: Projects will be tailored to the intern's
    skill level to enable the student to gain experience with
    conservation procedures in a large museum setting. Interns will
    function as members of the conservation staff.  Interns will
    complete: object examinations, documentation, treatment
    proposals, conservation treatments, and conservation reports.

    Term:  The internship will run for eight weeks from a date to be
    determined by agreement between the student, and the Director of
    Conservation.

    Eligibility: The qualified intern will have completed at least
    one year of a master's program in conservation and be headed
    towards a major in paper conservation or objects conservation
    and must successfully complete the museum's employment
    application and background check performed by the BBHC's Human
    Resources Department.

    Application Procedure:  Interested candidates should submit the
    following materials in English: curriculum vitae, a letter of
    interest in the particular project and two supporting letters
    from conservation/university professionals or teachers familiar
    with the student's work.

    Deadline: Materials should be postmarked no later than March 1,
    2012 and sent via post or email to:

    The decision for the Summer of 2012 will be made by March 15,
    2012.

    Successful applicants will be notified by telephone and mail.

Internship in fundamentals of conservation

    The Buffalo Bill Historical Center's Conservation Training
    Center is offering internships for study in the fundamentals of
    conservation.

    Conservation Projects: Projects will be tailored to the intern's
    skill level to enable the student to gain experience with
    conservation procedures in a large museum setting. Interns will
    function as members of the conservation staff.  Interns will
    complete: object examinations, documentation, treatment
    proposals, conservation treatments, and conservation reports.
    These opportunities are often taken by young professionals
    seeking experience prior to applying to a conservation program.

    Term:  The internship will run for a period of time to be
    determined by agreement between the student and the Director of
    Conservation.  Dates for the internship and hours worked during
    the week are flexible. Students who require employment often
    find work in the Museum's shop or food service, or in the town
    of Cody.

    Eligibility:  To be eligible for the BBHC Conservation Training
    Center Internship Program, a candidate must successfully
    complete the museum's employment application and background
    check performed by the BBHC's Human Resources Department.

    Deadline: As there is no determined date for these internships,
    applications are accepted throughout the year and decisions on
    acceptance are made after each application is submitted.
