Bibliography and the study of paper
The Bodleian Libraries Centre for the Study of the Book
Summer school 2012:

The Bodleian Libraries Centre for the Study of the Book will host
its first summer school in 2012. The course "Bibliography and the
study of paper" will be held from 9 - 13 July 2012 in Oxford and is
being convened by Mark Bland and Andrew Honey.

The summer school will explore the material evidence of paper and
its implications for the study of manuscripts and early printed
books. The course is aimed at academic researchers, special
collections personnel, conservators, historians and collectors, and
aims to prepare participants for research involving a wide range of
papers used in early printed books and manuscripts. Classes will
draw on the library and archive collections of the Bodleian
Libraries, Oxford Colleges, and Oxford University.

Each of the five days will be divided between taught morning
sessions and workshops and lectures in the afternoons and early
evenings. Guest lecturers will complement the taught sessions with
lectures and workshops that present bibliographic case studies that
use paper evidence in a variety of academic fields of study.

Course fees are UKP500, to cover tuition, refreshments and lunch
during the week.

(Accommodation is not included in the course fees; students should

receive information about accommodation in Oxford.)

The Worshipful Company of Stationers has generously agreed to
provide support to a limited number of postgraduate students in the
payment of course fees, through the Company's charitable arm, the
Stationers' Foundation. Course applications from students wishing to
be considered for financial aid to remit the fees must be received
by the Bodleian Libraries by January 31, 2012, and those students
must also apply for financial assistance by that date directly to
the Stationers' Foundation. Details are given on the course website.
