The museum's collection presently contains approximately 13,000
items and it contains a diverse range of materials and disciplines,
including fine and decorative art objects, historic objects,
photographic images, rare books, historic documents and manuscripts,
ethnographic material, historic costumes and textiles, and audio and

develop museum-wide guidelines and procedures for the handling and
preparation of collection items for storage and the incumbents will
co-develop protocols for the storage of items using standardized

in the performance of the aforementioned protocols.

The incumbents will co-develop and institute a system for assessing
and recording the condition of objects, as well as provide treatment
prioritizations and proposals. The incumbents will provide training
to other museum staff, contractors, volunteers and interns in the
remedial examination of collection items, and in the preparation of
condition reports.

Working in collaboration with other museum staff, the incumbents
will help to develop specifications necessary for the design and
build-out of the museum's multidisciplinary conservation laboratory.
In addition, the incumbents will collaborate with others to develop
specifications necessary for the design and build-out of
conservation work areas to be located in the museum's Mall building.
