Preservation Project Manager (GS-13) Conservator (GS-13) National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) The National Archives and Records Administration Preservation Programs is seeking an experienced individual to lead and manage a grant-funded, two- to three-year project to preserve and make available a collection of flood-damaged, largely 19th-20th century Hebraic and Arabic books and documents. Applicants may apply for this position under the vacancy announcement for Project Manager (Preservation) (GS-13) and/or Conservator (GS-13). The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the project team and lab activities, manage project workflow and budget, develop/manage contracts, and will ensure that project timetable is met. Project activities include conservation treatment to stabilize and prepare selected books and archival materials for digitizing, digitization, packing and shipping collection materials, development of an online web site with database, and creation of an exhibit.The 10-person project team includes conservators, conservation technicians, an imaging specialist, digitization technicians, librarian(s) and contractors specializing in exhibition design and fabrication and web site design. Excellent project and team management skills are essential. This position is a 2-3-year term federal appointment. Knowledge of Hebrew and/or Arabic is desirable but not mandatory. The work location is at the modern and well-equipped Archives II building in College Park, MD a close-in suburb of Washington, DC.
