The Heritage Conservation Centre are now seeking candidates for the
Conservator (Textiles) position.

The main responsibilities are

    Undertake examination, assess conservation requirements,
    treatment and documentation of Textiles from the NHB collection;

    Extensive practical work on variety of Textiles;

    Participation in HCC's and NHB's public consultation and
    education activities;

    Manages and/or implements preventive conservation projects,
    including environmental monitoring and pest management relating
    to collections care in storage, on loan and on display;

    Performs conservation analysis and tests;

    Participate in planning teams for exhibition and gallery
    development; and

    Close supervision and coaching of direct or indirect
    subordinate(s).

Brief description of collection involved: At HCC, you will be
presented with the opportunity to conserve a diverse collection of
textile from Southeast Asia and Asia while coordinating preventive
conservation projects and participate in exhibition planning teams
of the National Museum of Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum,
Peranakan Museum and Singapore Art Museum / 8Q.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

    Candidate should have a recognized first degree (bachelor's or
    honours) or a Masters degree in Conservation, with 6 to 8 years
    of relevant practical experience in Textiles Conservation.

    Familiarity and experience with the regional and local
    ethnographical materials will be advantageous.

    Is able to carry out practical work with high degree of manual
    dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity.

    Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Possess initiative with ability to multi-task, organise and
    prioritise work.

    Positive attitude, a strong team player who can share and also
    work independently when required.

    Strong interest in heritage and the arts.
