Call for proposals
Cultural Heritage Advanced Research Infrastructures (CHARISMA)

Deadline: 15 November 2011

CHARISMA is an EU-funded integrating activity project carried out
within the FP7 Capacities Specific Programme "Research
Infrastructures". The project (2009-2013) provides transnational
access to the most advanced scientific instrumentation and
knowledge, allowing European scientists, conservators, curators,
archaeologists and art historians to enhance their research at the
forefront of their field.

The ARCHLAB Transnational Access programme: Among other activities,
CHARISMA offers free access to the extensive scientific archives of
six museums and research institutions (these provide analytical and
technical data on paintings, drawings, sculptures, metals, ceramics,
etc.):

    The British Museum, London, UK

Centre de recherche et de restauration des musees de France,
    Paris, FR

    Instituut Collectie Nederland, Amsterdam, NL

Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, ES

    The National Gallery, London, UK

Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Florence, IT

This project will allow the users to be welcomed for a 4 to 5 days
period in one or more of the host institutions, with a grant to
cover travel and subsistence costs. To assist in research in their
specialist field, the users will benefit from:

Access to the host institution's databases and documentation
    (both electronic and paper archives)

Assistance from the host institution's documentation staff

Scientific expertise from staff at the host institution.

The users will be required to deliver an activity report within two
months after the visit and to commit to send to the host a copy of
any publication that arises from the research.

Open Call: the fifth call for ARCHLAB Transnational Access
applications has been extended until Tuesday 15 November 2011.
