Subject: Conservation Science Annual
November 2011 brings the 17th annual Conservation Science Annual symposium, CSA 2011 within the annual international analytical chemistry convention, the Eastern Analytical Symposium. Please visit: <URL:http://www.eas.org> EAS 2011's Preliminary Program is accessible at: <URL:http://www.eas.org/askeas/JunePrelim.pdf> See page 6 for a list of thirty 2011 EAS Conferences-in-Miniature, from "Art Conservation," (the Conservation Science Annual sessions), to Surface Analysis. Consider staying beyond the CSA dates, to take advantage of EAS' rich offerings. Search on "cultural heritage" (and see below) for our three 2011 Conservation Science Annual's sessions, Monday and Tuesday. For registrant logistics, see pages 85, 86 and 87 on regional transportation and local housing for CSA at EAS. All CSA and EAS sessions are held in the Somerset, NJ, USA DoubleTree Hotel. All EAS short courses are held in the Somerset, NJ, USA Holiday Inn. A free shuttle runs between the Holiday Inn, the Exposition Center and the DoubleTree Hotel on an approximately 20 minute cycle, 8 AM - 6 PM, or walk about seven minutes to or from the DoubleTree Hotel on a local street and via the Garden State Exposition Center. There are several hotels and motels at short distances from the EAS hotels and Garden State Exposition Center. Registration is always quite affordable compared to most conservation meetings, and students register very, very affordably. For the best rate at $140 USD (students $25 USD), register online before October 15, 2011 at <URL:https://www.compusystems.com/servlet/ar?evt_uid=260> After October 15, register online or onsite at $190 USD, students $25 Program Monday November 14, 2011 Analysis for Cultural Heritage I Organized in cooperation with New York Conservation Foundation Chair: John Scott, New York Conservation Foundation 9:00 Identification of Amber and its Imitations using Dispersive Raman Microspectroscopy Alex Rzhevskii, Mark Wall Thermo Fisher Scientific 9:30 Solid-State MAS NMR Spectra of Paramagnetic Transition Metal Silicate and Aluminate Pigments: Implications for the Characterization of Cultural Heritage Objects Nicholas Zumbulyadis, Brian Antalek, Eastman Kodak 10:00 Characterization and Dating of Silver Gelatin Fiber Based Photographic Papers using Attenuated Total Reflection--Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR/FTIR) Spectroscopy Ana Martins, Lee Ann Daffner, Chris McGlinchey Museum of Modern Art, James Newhouse New York University 10:30 Break 10:50 Analysis of Coatings for the Preservation of Outdoor Public Murals Amanda J.
