Associate Paintings Conservator Walters Art Museum The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore is seeking an Associate Paintings Conservator for a full-time staff position to work in a very active conservation laboratory carrying out treatment, research, training and public outreach. The Walters emphasizes a team approach across divisions and the conservator in this position also acts as liaison between the museum's Conservation and Exhibitions divisions. This staff position reports to the Head of Paintings Conservation and the Director of Conservation and Technical Research. Duties: Examination, treatment, technical research relating to paintings Attending meetings and acting as liaison between the Conservation and Exhibition divisions Participation in administrative and management activities Supervision and training of interns, fellows, volunteers Grant writing Traveling as a courier Public outreach activities in support of the Walters' mission Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: A master's degree from a recognized conservation training program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus at least 5 years of experience specializing in paintings conservation after graduation. Advanced examination, treatment, research, writing, documentation, and computer skills Knowledge of environmental requirements and preventive conservation Experience in preparing works of art for display and travel Good communication skills Ability to work well with others We offer an attractive benefits package.
