Rhein ranks among the most important museums of design worldwide.
The work and activities of the Vitra Design Museum are based on its
extensive collection of furniture, lighting and industrial design,
which is one of the largest of its kind. The Museum's temporary
exhibitions on design and architecture, which are also shown at
other prominent museums around the world, are complemented by a
diverse educational programme. Daily guided architectural tours of
the Vitra Campus allow visitors to view a variety of buildings by
internationally famous architects. These attractions are
supplemented by the Vitra Design Museum's publications and special
edition products.

The following position is available beginning 1 January 2012 (or by
arrangement):

This position provides the opportunity to become acquainted with the
daily operations of a museum and to expand one's knowledge of
conservation. You will assist the Head of Collection department in
the areas of object maintenance, exhibition support and loan
supervision. You will also perform practical work on current
conservation projects.

In addition to a master's degree in the conservation of modern
materials or wooden objects, we expect candidates to show an
interest in design and architecture. Knowledge of German is
required; additional foreign languages are advantageous. We are
looking for a person who is both capable of working independently
and team oriented. You are reliable and flexible, have good manual
skills and already possess initial experience in the museum field.
