Textile Treatment Conservation Supervisor
Hampton Court Palace

Ref:1203351

Once upon a time, it was royalty who admired the magnificent objects
within the five historic royal palaces. Today, it is visitors who
come to discover the fascinating stories behind these unique
exhibits. To save these priceless artefacts for future generations,
we need someone to join our team of highly skilled textile
conservators

This supervisory role will report to the Treatment Conservation
Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day supervision management
of textile conservation treatments, together with explaining and
training for one (of three) textile treatment teams in the
Conservation and Collection Care section of Historic Royal Palaces.

The role will require delivering hands-on work of complex
advanced-level conservation treatments and will supervise and mentor
a team of three to four treatment conservators as well as interns
and volunteers. The job requires advanced-level knowledge of
conservation treatments and familiarity with reporting procedures,
project management and budgeting, together with experience
disseminating information, both written and spoken, to visitors,
members and sponsors in both the public and private spaces of the
palaces. Organisation skills to plan, schedule and delegate
treatments are critical.

The individual will need to co-ordinate delivery of work with that
of the supervisors of the other treatment and preventive
conservation teams across all palaces. Although based at Hampton
Court Palace there will be an occasional requirement to work at
other locations.

Historic Royal Palaces endorses the Icon PACR accreditation scheme.
