Professional Preparation Masters Studentships
University of Lincoln

The University of Lincoln are seeking applications from highly
qualified graduates wishing to undertake a unique Masters programme
aligned to commercial conservation practices.

These Professional Preparation Master Studentships are available
from the University of Lincoln's AHRC Block Grant Partnership (BGP)
award. The full-time maintenance stipend level for 2010/11 for the
Professional Preparation Master's Competition is UKP8,845 p.a.

Candidates should be completing, or have already completed, a degree
to a high level in Conservation or an allied field. Full information

Programme of Study: The successful applicant would undertake the MA
in the Conservation of Historic Objects at the University of
Lincoln, whilst working alongside Crick Smith Conservation, the
commercial arm of the subject area.

Students will have the opportunity to relate their studies directly
to the needs of professional conservation practices and particularly
historic decoration, historic interiors, on site conservation
methods, techniques and processes.

Skills Needed:

    A head for heights/working on scaffold
    Excellent colour vision
    Good verbal communication, teamwork and presentation skills
    Good documentation skills, including record drawing and
    photography
    Excellent writing skills, research skills to produce treatment
    reports and other papers
    Independent learner with enquiring mind and enthusiasm for their
    subject

Future Prospects: This scheme will offer the opportunity to fully
explore the relationship with the commercial conservation industries
and exploit the potential for professional employment or knowledge
transfer options for industry-led doctoral study.
