Subject: Workshop on microchemical analysis
Workshop "Microchemical Analysis for Conservators" September 19-23, 2011 The Campbell Center is offering a workshop entitled "Microchemical Analysis for Conservators." The date for this workshop is September 19-23, 2011. This workshop is being taught by Skip Palenik of Microtrace. Skip also teaches at McCrone Research Institute of Chicago. The tuition is $1150 and includes all equipment and materials for the workshop plus lodging and most meals. A discount is available to individuals registering for this workshop and the Microscopy workshop offered the preceding week. Course description: This course is intended for conservators who require chemical information from objects in their care but do not possess sophisticated instruments or a fully equipped laboratory. The goal is to enable the student to acquire chemical information from minute samples using simple tools, techniques and chemical reactions that can be performed on minute samples. It stresses technique rather than simply presenting a list of tests to be performed in "cookbook" fashion.
