The Hamilton Kerr Institute, situated eight miles from Cambridge in the village of Whittlesford, is the painting conservation department of the Museum, and is also the University's postgraduate teaching institution for paintings conservation, with an international reputation for the high quality of its programmes of instruction and its research. S/he will also undertake conservation treatments, lead larger projects which may involve working "in-situ" away from the Institute, support the Director in the management of the HKI and deputise for him. With the facilities of the well-equipped studios and science laboratory, and the Institute's responsibility for a major museum collection in the Fitzwilliam Museum, as well as other public and private collections, the post offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of conservation treatments, as well as undertaking research.
