Assistant Objects Conservator, SPJ (Special Projects Position) Art Institute of Chicago The Art Institute of Chicago is seeking a candidate that will undertake conservation projects and activities related to the re-installation of the Greek, Roman and Byzantine and the Egyptian collections, scheduled to occur in the fall of 2012 and the fall of 2013, respectively. In addition, the individual will perform standard Conservation Department duties, so as to free regular staff members to do work related to the Greek, Roman and Byzantine and the Egyptian installations. Under the supervision of the Senior Objects Conservator, the Assistant Objects Conservator, SPJ (Special Projects Position) will examine, document and treat objects, plan the safe movement of art collections, carry out environmental monitoring and in coordination with the Department of Registration will oversee the movement and installation of collections. A successful candidate will be a Graduate of a recognized conservation master's degree program with a minimum of three years post-graduate work in an established objects laboratory. Experience working with ancient objects would be valuable.
