<URL:http://www.faei.org>

Fine Arts Expert Institute (FAEI) is a private laboratory for
technological and authenticity studies of paintings and other works
of art. The institute, situated within the Geneva Freeport in
Switzerland, is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical equipment
(microscopy, X-radiography, infrared reflectography, X-ray
microfluorescence).

The rapid development of activities since the launch of the
laboratory in 2010 brings us to recruit a Senior conservation
scientist. The ideal candidate would have the following profile:

PhD in a relevant subject, for example in chemistry or materials
    science

Several years hands-on experience in the technological
investigation of paintings, familiarity with all commonly used
analytical techniques, ability to assess and interpret their
    results

Excellent organizing skills, ability to take on responsibility
for individual projects from start to finish, leading a team
consisting of a junior scientist, a paintings conservator and an
    art historian where relevant

Ability to write reports in French and English; other languages,
    especially Russian, are a bonus

    IT literacy (Photoshop, InDesign)

Availability to work in Geneva (Swiss work permit, residence)

Alternatively, FAEI would consider an application from a versatile
Technical art historian with the following profile:

University degree, ideally a PhD, in art history, specialization
in technical art history of paintings

Several years of experience in the technological investigation
of paintings, publication of a catalogue raisonne of an artist
or preparation of estimates for auction houses; familiarity with
all commonly used techniques of scientific analysis of
paintings, ability to assess their results

Excellent organizing skills, ability to collaborate within a
team, together with scientists and a paintings conservator

Ability to write reports in French and English; other languages,
    especially Russian, are a bonus

    IT literacy (Photoshop, InDesign)

Availability to work in Geneva (Swiss work permit, residence)

Geneva is consistently rated among the cities with the highest
quality of life in the world. We offer a fascinating position at the
interface of science and art history.

This is a part time position (50% in the first instance with
possible future increase).
