Subject: Dating child's manicure set
Our museum has recently acquired a child's manicure set and are considering it for accession. It is a hard half-moon shaped, velveteen covered case with metal and plastic accessories. We are having trouble finding supporting documentation to date this object as it is unmarked and according to our donor was purchased at a five in dime type store in the 1930's. If anyone could provide any assistance, in possible reference materials for dating plastics or if someone has an example of something similar in their collections that would be greatly appreciated. Photos can be provided.
