The National Heritage Board (NHB), Singapore is recruiting a dynamic
Deputy Director for Conservation Services. The Conservation Services
Department is part of the Heritage Conservation Centre under NHB.

The key role of the Conservation Services Department is to deliver
high standards of professional conservation services through its
interventive and preventive conservation expertise. The Department
conserves the museum collections and supports the exhibition needs
of NHB museums. Focus is placed on continuous professional
development to maintain and/or raise conservation standards through
conservation research or any other avenues. The Department also
plays a key role in outreach activities to generate greater public
awareness in heritage preservation and contributes to lifting
standards of conservation practice in the industry.

You will assist the Director of the Heritage Conservation Centre in
leading, developing and managing the team of at least 35. This role
is administrative in nature, which will require you to spend less
time on practical work. Some of the key areas of responsibilities
include:

    To set out the Department's strategic roles and functions and to
    assist in the identification, mapping and execution of the mid
    and long term strategic thrusts and action plan for the
    development of the Department;

    To lead and oversee the Department's operations such as overall
    resource management (including budgeting and staffing),
    operational policies and procedures and staff development; and

    To assist in the development of the Centre's specialised
    conservation outreach programmes.

Requirements

    Recognised Master's degree with at least 8 to 10 years of
    working experience in Conservation field;

    Experience in working in a museum or institution and managing a
    fairly large conservation department that handles a wide range
    of materials;

    Good track record and considerable exposure to organisational
    development and management functions as Chief or Principal
    Conservator will be preferred;

    Strong project management skills

    Possess excellent written and verbal communication, strong
    interpersonal skills and enjoy the challenges of working among
    technical expert; and

    A self-disciplined, motivated person with leadership skills is
    preferred.
