The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at UEA Norwich is offering a
position of Assistant Conservator for a fixed-term period of 9
months. You will be a graduate of a recognised conservation
programme and will assist with all aspects of the care, treatment,
movement, unpacking, and storage of objects in the SCVA Collections.

You will have a conservation specialisation (such as three
dimensional objects, paintings, organic material or works on paper)
and a specific interest in Modern Works of Art and/or Non-European
art. Given the broad multi-disciplinary nature of the Collections,
you will be expected to develop your specialist knowledge. You will
work under supervision but should be capable of working
independently and will be expected to contribute to day to day work
of the conservation studio. You will work alongside experienced
practitioners in the Sainsbury Centre's busy Conservation Studio,
implementing Preventive Conservation strategies linked to the
display and exhibition programmes.

The nine month contract will focus on the redisplay of the UEA
Collection of Abstract and Constructivist art and Anderson
Collection of Art Nouveau. In addition the redisplay will
incorporate a number of loaned in works of art from other
Institutions. You will work under the supervision of the Head of
Collections Management and Conservation and alongside colleagues
focusing on Registration and Collections management as well as the
Curatorial Team.

from the Criminal Records Bureau.
