Washing white cotton gloves

Does anyone have a recommendation for detergents to use to wash
white cotton gloves?  Ours are getting rather soiled and we'd prefer
to launder them rather than replace them.  Is there a particular
detergent that will work well and not leave any chemical residue in
the gloves?  On the other hand, is there anything that absolutely
*should not* be used?
