Subject: Position at IIC
The editor of News in Conservation, Vicki Humphrey, is standing down from this position to take up a new full-time position. IIC is therefore looking for a new editor, to take up the work as soon as possible, commencing with the issue to be distributed in October 2011. News in Conservation (NiC), the lively, colourful conservation newspaper, has established itself as a primary focus for news and information throughout the international conservation community. It is about to be circulated to IIC members in digital format only. We invite expressions of interest from conservation professionals and others with excellent writing and editing skills in English, the journalistic ability to source news worldwide, ready access to fast electronic communications, and skills in social media tools including web site newsfeeds, Facebook and Twitter, and the production of email alerts. Experience and good contacts in the international world of conservation will be an advantage. This is a paid, part-time, free-lance, non-employed position which will take up 2-21-2 days per week on average. Whilst proximity to the IIC office in London would be an advantage for initial interview and occasional meetings, it is not essential, and the work could be done from anywhere in the world using Skype and fast internet connections. If you are interested, please send an expression of interest, request for the job description, and a short CV, to iic<-a t->iiconservation< . >org by 2ist June. Please draw this position to the attention of others.
