This post will cover the conservation of objects from the collections of Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums which are wide ranging and include Science and Industry collections, Maritime History, Decorative and Modern Craft. The post holder will also assist with collections care projects as part of TWAM's commitment to supporting other museums in the North East Region. Candidates should possess a recognised qualification, or equivalent in Conservation of historic objects and some subsequent practical experience. This post will focus particularly on Science, Industry, Engineering and Maritime History collections which are held at a number of TWAM venues across Tyne and Wear. You will work closely with curators, and other colleagues from the Conservation Team, to maintain, and make accessible to the public, TWAM's nationally designated science, industry and maritime collections. The post holder will also assist with collections care as part of TWAM's commitment to supporting the North East Regional Museums. Candidates should possess a recognised qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, either in the Conservation of historic objects or in engineering. If qualified or experienced in engineering, a candidate should have an appreciation of the conservation approach.
