PhD Scholarship University of Gothenburg The University of Gothenburg, Faculty of Science, Department of Conservation, announces a PhD scholarship in Conservation of Cultural Heritage Objects The Department of Conservation at the University of Gothenburg offers professional degrees and research programs that address cultural heritage issues including: urban environments, landscapes, buildings, gardens, and objects. A professional conservator requires a broad expertise that incorporates knowledge from diverse fields in the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Moreover, the professional practice of preserving and fostering our cultural heritage requires special practical expertise in documentation, interpretation, and analysis. This postgraduate programme will lead to a PhD in Conservation, and comprises four years of full time study at the postgraduate level. The time period can be extended to up to five years in total through teaching and/or other departmental duties. The applicant must have completed an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject (minimum of 240 points, with 60 points at advanced level). This PhD position is directed towards conservation of cultural heritage objects and the proposed project should be oriented towards a natural science or interdisciplinary approach that includes field studies and/or experimental work.
