The Kroller-Muller Museum has an international reputation as a
museum of modern and contemporary art, and is located in beautiful
natural surroundings at De Hoge Veluwe National Park. It has a staff

The museum has two departments: Operations and Collection and
Presentation. The Kroller-Muller Museum is seeking to fill the
following position in its Collection and Presentation Department as
soon as possible:

        We are offering a one-year contract of employment, which may
        be extended to a permanent contract, subject to satisfactory
        performance.

The position:

        The sculpture and modern art conservator will be responsible
        for the condition, preventive conservation and
        conservation/restoration of the museum's sculpture
        collection. The museum has a large sculpture garden. The
        total collection contains ca. 1,700 sculptures and
        installations (inside and outside) and approximately 1,500
        decorative art objects. The main task of the sculpture and
        modern art conservator is to contact and coordinate external
        specialists, initiating research and supervising
        conservation projects.

        He/she will advise on the management of this section of the
        collection and will be responsible for the sculpture
        conservation studio.

        Together with the Head of Collection and Presentation and
        conservation-technician he/she will develop a (preventive)
        conservation plan for the sculpture and modern art
        collection and will be responsible for the sculpture and
        modern art conservation budget.

        The Kroller-Muller works with a project system which
        involves the active participation of the conservators.

        The museum uses The Museum System (TMS) for registration
        and documentation.

        The Kroller-Muller endorses the ICOM ethical code.

Desired profile:

    An academic degree in conservation/restoration (UvA, SRAL, ICN,
    or a comparable institution outside the Netherlands)
    Art-historical knowledge
    Experience of working with museum collections
    Experience of working in a team and with projects
    Experience of working with inventory systems
    Good oral and written Dutch and English
    An affinity with the museum's area of emphasis
    Has a network of specialists which she/he is prepared to widen
    for the museum
    is prepared to courier works of art

The terms of employment are described in the collective agreement
for autonomous state museums (CAO Verzelfstandigde Rijksmusea).

Salary: salary scale 10 with the possibility of moving to scale 11.
