Subject: Call for videos--WAAC Newsletter
Videos in the WAAC Newsletter There are times when, no matter how articulate or skilled one might be at technical writing, words cannot convey information clearly. It can be nearly impossible to describe the exact method of application of an adhesive, movement of a tideline, or aspects of an architectural feature in the round. The WAAC Newsletter would like to address this problem with the addition of videos to the Newsletter to supplement the usual categories of printed illustrations. (This is not a new idea, scientific journals have been doing it for some time.) As with other illustrations, a full description should be included in the written text (this is no excuse for lazy or sloppy writing) with the video cited as a figure. In the printed newsletter, the video will appear as a single illustration with a URL pointing to the appropriate place on the WAAC website that hosts the video clip. After six months to a year when the issue is moved to the WAAC website, the online article will include a live hyperlink to the video. Submissions with videos will be accepted beginning immediately, with the next issue due out in May, 2011. (Articles with videos can be accepted up until mid April 2011 for inclusion in the next issue.) A complete description of the process and the guidelines for submission and format can be found at <URL:http://cool.conservation-us.org/waac/wn/videoguidelines.html> (And yes, we think this is very cool) On a personal note, I've been editing this publication for quite a while now. The latest, January 2011, is my 50th issue. time to add something new Carolyn Tallent Editor *** Conservation DistList Instance 24:44 Distributed: Thursday, March 24, 2011 Message Id: cdl-24-44-001 ***Received on Tuesday, 22 March, 2011
