NCPTT will be hosting two up-coming hands-on workshops on cemetery preservation. Cemetery Monument Conservation Workshop St. Augustine, Florida April 1-2, 2011 This two day hands-on workshop will take place in historic Tolomato Cemetery on April 1-2, 2011 in St. Augustine, Florida. The workshop will include lectures and hands-on field sessions in; cemetery documentation and conditions assessments, cleaning techniques for historic stone, cemetery landscape maintenance and history, lime washing techniques, headstone repair and resetting, as well as patching and fill materials for stone. Registration is limited to 25 participants at a cost of $250 per person. Student rates are also available. For registration and schedule please check <URL:http://www.ncptt.nps.gov/training> Ornamental Iron Workshop Savannah, Georgia May 18-19, 2011 This two day hands-on workshop will take place in historic Laurel Grove Cemetery on May 18-19, 2011 in Savannah, Georgia. The workshop will include lectures and hands-on field sessions in; metallic structures, mechanisms of deterioration, construction techniques of ornamental ironwork, blacksmith demonstration, parts replication techniques, riveting, simple repairs, cleaning, rust treatments for iron, and surface finishes.
