Survey on lining techniques

I am a first master student in conservation-restoration of works of
art, specialist in paintings, at ESA Saint-Luc of Liege, Belgium. I
am preparing a master thesis which studies the penetration of
synthetic adhesives into the original canvas in linings.

I'm interested to learn what the most commonly used lining
techniques including products currently used by conservators are. I
would be most grateful if you could spend a few minutes to answer
