Friday February 11. 2011 "Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Material Culture and UD Preservation Studies Doctoral Program director Dr. Joyce Hill Stoner is this year's recipient of the CAA/Heritage Preservation Award. The award, which recognizes distinction in scholarship and conservation, was presented to Dr. Stoner at the 2011 CAA Awards ceremony on February 10, 2011 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. A second celebration of the honor will occur during the annual meeting of Heritage Preservation, a national institute for conservation, to be held in June in Philadelphia. The annual award was initiated in 1990 to recognize an outstanding contribution by persons who, individually or jointly, have enhanced understanding of art through the application of knowledge and experience in conservation, art history, and art. "From the recent UDaily article: "The jury that selected Stoner for the award noted that her 'essential research in the field of conservation scholarship "has fundamentally shaped the discipline.' Stoner, the jury said, 'is a highly respected scholar, professor and conservator of paintings, and a superb recipient of this prestigious award. Both her educational and research interests reflect her many years of interdisciplinary focus on art history and conservation; her numerous articles, book chapters and exhibition catalogs attest as well to a lifetime of scholarly excellence.'"
