Summer Internships
National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT)

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a limited
number of undergraduate and graduate internships at the National
Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT). NCPTT is an
office of the National Park Service located on the campus of
Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.  Ten-week
internships will be available pending availability of funding.
Positions will begin no later than June 6, 2011.  Interns will be
short-term employees of Northwestern State University.  Compensation
will be based on experience, including academic experience.

NCPTT is an interdisciplinary research facility that serves the
historic preservation community nationwide.  Interns will have an
opportunity to work in one of the following programs: Archeology and
Collections, Architecture and Engineering, Historic Landscapes,
Materials Conservation, and IT and Marketing.

Opportunities may include curriculum development, teaching
opportunities, hands-on research, data collection, materials and
product testing, or testing new technologies.

Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate skills and knowledge in
preservation technology.  This may include but not be limited to
documentation, condition assessments, literature reviews, laboratory
or field research, materials testing, hands-on preservation
treatments, or other related skills.  All undergraduate applicants
must be accepted to or currently enrolled at a four-year accredited
university or college program.  All graduate applicants must be
accepted to or currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral degree
program in disciplines such as architecture, anthropology,
conservation, chemistry, engineering, geology, geography,
preservation, etc.
